Children’s development has been hit hard by the upheavals of the COVID-19 pandemic. Without help, they face lifelong effects on their education and social skills. Your support can help hundreds more children facing disadvantages at home develop the key life skills they need to thrive.

Situation
The transition to secondary school is stressful for all children; it is even worse for those who face additional challenges such as learning difficulties, English as a second language, caring responsibilities, or poverty at home. Without opportunities to develop key social skills, disadvantaged children can easily start secondary school on the back foot, and remain there. The disruption caused by coronavirus has hit these children hardest, and made it more likely that they will struggle.
Solution
Through our large-scale puppetry projects, children aged 10-11 develop creative and life skills which help them thrive through the challenges of transition to secondary school. While building an entire complex marionette show from scratch, they also build concentration, teamwork and communication skills and gain independence, self-confidence and resilience that will help them close the gap to their more advantaged peers.
