The new building will provide:- a) A new clinic for the Haematology Department, to provide much needed space for patients with Leukaemia or cancer of the blood, where the current facilities are cramped and inadequate. b) En-suite facilities for the Head & Neck Unit, for patients with cancer of the throat or face, who may spend long periods of time in hospital following surgery. Current accommodation lacks natural light and ventilation, as well as inadequate bathroom facilities. c) Extend the exisitng Chemotherapy Day Unit, which is currently working to its maximum capacity. Further space is desperately needed to develop the service and avoid long waiting lists for treatment.
