Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Over 1,000 volunteers provide a counselling service, supervised by a team of professional supervisors and managers. The first ChildLine base opened in London and it provides the helpline 24 hours a day, every day of the year. ChildLine has since opened other bases in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Swansea, Rhyl, Belfast, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Exeter and, most recently, in Liverpool.
