White storks are returning to the UK, sparking tremendous public excitement and hope for the return of other lost species. In 2026 we’ll increase our outreach, using this charismatic bird to galvanise support for other reintroductions, through education, events, and collaborations across Europe.

Many people feel increasingly disconnected from nature, while habitats and wildlife continue to decline. Without shared ambition and local and national support, species recovery efforts can struggle to succeed. By reconnecting communities with the inspiring return of white storks, we can spark a national conversation about rewilding, involve Sussex communities in taking practical action for nature, and turn public support into lasting recovery.
Our work already combines robust science, inspiring public engagement and hands-on community action to support the return of white storks. In 2026 we will expand our reach and deepen our impact by sharing new insights from GPS tracking and monitoring, delivering inspiring education and events, and enabling more Sussex communities to take part in practical rewilding action. This will build understanding, foster dialogue and turn local support into real, long-term change for nature.
