The Ramblers has championed and protected Britain’s paths for 90 years. Today, paths remain a vital gateway to nature, but we cannot take them for granted. Threats to paths are rising, and the climate crisis is impacting the places we love to walk. Our paths need to be protected, maintained and improved. We urgently need your support to save our paths for future generations.

The climate crisis and resulting extreme weather is harming paths through flooding, erosion and wind damage – and this is becoming more severe and frequent. Inaccessible paths mean fewer people can connect with nature, so Ramblers’ frontline path maintenance volunteers work hard to keep paths open for public benefit. But it's becoming harder – which is why we need your support.

We need to raise money to tackle the growing backlog of paths that need fixing before they become impossible to use. We will put measures in place to make paths (particularly those most susceptible to impacts from extreme weather events) more resilient in the future. Path repair and construction are expensive and with local authorities stretched, this work will rely on money donated by the public and the efforts of our dedicated, grassroots volunteer network.
