TSYT is a youth development outdoor learning charity focused on improving the lives and prospects of young people, especially those facing disadvantage. Our three-voyage programme equips them with skills and confidence that support their journey to adulthood and sustains them throughout their lives.

Situation
The young people we support come from across the UK and are facing adversity in their daily lives. This could be struggling with their mental or physical health, living in poverty, neurodiversity, barriers to learning, or having caring responsibilities. Young people need chances in life to thrive, without it, they can feel as though they are being defined by their circumstances which can leave them feeling disaffected, socially isolated, with low self-esteem and a lack of aspirations.
Solution
Our fleet of four 72ft Challenger yachts deliver our three-voyage programme of Exploration, Empowerment and Leadership. Combining outdoor learning, personal development, social development, and practical life skills.Our vessels provide a high impact learning environment for over 1,200 young people annually, 80% are experiencing disadvantage. But the demand for our services exceeds our sea-going capacity – last year we turned away 120 young people, and this figure is likely to exceed 200 in 2024.
