Just spending one night sleeping on the streets can change a person’s life. They can face hunger, abuse, violence and theft. In Winter, the effects are compounded by the harshness of the weather, trying sleep without shelter, without warmth, on a cold, hard surface can push people to breaking point.

Between April 22-March 23 over 10,000 people were seen sleeping on the streets of London, an increase of nearly 21% in just one year. And with the long term impact of COVID still being felt, the growing cost of living and the current housing crisis, many are now at greater risk of becoming homeless. Combined with a lack of affordable homes and social housing, and increases in rent, many are struggling to either stay in their homes or find a route away from the streets.

This Winter our focus is on preventing homelessness and helping people avoid eviction. We will empower and support people to make positive, informed choices, using a unique multi agency partnership approach. We will look at priority areas such as prevention, intervention, and independent living support. Our Day Centre will provide a warm, safe, welcoming space to escape the cold and have something to eat, whilst our Advice Team will provide the necessary information, counselling and support.
